1980 Greco Super Real EG-700 in Tobacco Sunburst

Here we have an early Greco EG700.

Although these are officially categorized as under the “Super Sound” series, these earlier ones were branded with the very coveted “”Super Real” silkscreen.

The specs on a Greco guitar at the time really depended on the guitar, as the differentiation between models was not very strictly enforced.

This particular guitar seems to be the lucky draw with very nice woods, not to mention the amazing condition it is in.

【Specs and condition】

Other than some very, very minor dings/scratches and a fingerprint under the finish on the headstock? (please see our photos), this guitar is amazingly clean. Preserved in almost a time capsule-like condition, it’s nothing short of a miracle that we were able to find a guitar of this caliber in a condition like this 42 years later. 

It was sold to us as new old stock, but we don’t think it’s quite appropriate to list it as such, due to the wear, albeit very minor. But really, it looks like it was just bought less than two weeks ago. It even has the plastic film still on the trussrod cover!

- Very nice Rosewood Fretboard (Possibly Brazilian, but we will list it as Indian to avoid complications)

【Personal Impressions】

We seriously doubt that a cleaner example of this guitar exists anywhere in the world. Plays, sounds and looks like a dream. We can definitely see why Gibson was worried about these Japanese companies, especially when this was their mid-tier model…

Collector or not, you can’t go wrong with this axe.
